The Danish artist and designer Verner Panton (1926-1998) has enjoyed a renaissance in the past few years. An advocate for free and outspoken "spaceage" living throughout the 1960´s and 1970´s, Verner Pantons designs in both lighting and furniture has stroke a cord in contemporary interiorliving and many of his objects are today destined to reach the status of "design icons of the 20th century".
In response to this development, MatzForm has re-released one of Pantons more tantalizing seating objects; The Relaxer Lounge Chair in collaboration with the Verner Panton Estate. In one sweeping curve, Panton has accentuated the art of seating, which is ergonomically fit to any body size and posture. It was originally manufactured in Germany in 1974 by Rosenthal Studioline.
Due tothe relatively small numbers With the re-release in 2004, the chair fitted with solid hard wood - natural oiled Oak as well as the highest quality upholstery fabrics and leathers, from among others Kvadrat (Tinta 3) and Maharam (Millerstripe) Fabrics. Slight differences may occur due to the unique wood grain structure.
Produced then has turned Pantons Relaxer chair into a highly collectible object for vintage design aficionados and collectors. From poolside relaxation and bar lounging, to the kid´s favourite computer gaming chair; the Relaxer is already re-claiming it´s past state as one of the most interesting icons of Verner Pantons design universe. The Relaxer is suitable for both residental and contract use.
